I didn’t get a chance to review this product the first time around, so I was delighted to be able to check it out this time and play with all the presets on some of my photos. At which point (if things don’t change with Luminar) I’ll probably jump to Exposure X5.My friends over at Topaz Labs have done it again with the latest release of Topaz Impression, their plugin for adding artistic effects to photos. Picktorial 3 vs luminar 2018 windows#I own Luminar, but it’s so bad on Windows (where I want to use it) that I keep using my old version of Capture one v10 till it breaks or I get a new camera. But sounds like it’s overkill for your needs, and it’s quiet expensive. it feels laggy next to Capture One or Exposure on a Mac, and it’s DAM has limited functionality - i.e., no keyword/metadata search.Ĭapture One is the safe bet from your favourites. While it can create folders on import, I’m not sure if that’s based on Exif data and definitely the options to configure it are pretty limited. A disaster on Windows, and fixing the windows version might limit their ability to fix Luminar’s spartan import functionality. Weak points are highlight recovery (on par with On1, ACDsee, Darktable etc, but a level below the big 3) and defringing. In terms of speed and stability it’s in the same class as LR and Capture One in my experience. In fact, its import function is pretty flexible, allowing creation of folders based on various criteria, it can insert metadata during import and apply presets in bulk on import. I have mine to only look at my ‘picstore’ folder, and to copy new images into that folder creating folders by exif date. And you’re not limited to just one, you can have several. So to change the ‘bookmark' from your pictures folder to somewhere else, you remove the bookmark for pictures and create your own from the ‘folders’ tool. No other app was doing this.Įxposure calls folders ‘bookmarks’. After creating a catalog it was still running at 300-400% cpu usage.
